Protection Installation Services Ltd

About Us

Kevin Whing established Protection Installation Services Limited in 2007 with a passion to build a business based on integrity, great quality product, fantastic customer relationships, value for money and the creation of apprenticeships. The latter reflected his desire to ensure apprentices had a much better experience than he did in 1980 and also that the quality of the people within the business would always be within the control of the company.

His fellow Directors, Dave Dalton, Gary Whing, Linda Whing & Ian McLean shared this vision. As a team they set about building a great workforce who care about delivering fantastic quality projects to customers at the price promised and within the timescale envisaged.

The business builds and installs both high and low voltage substation protection and control equipment and primary plant. Based in Gateshead, in the North East heartland of manufacturing, PISL engineers have worked the length and breadth of the UK and abroad. Training and development are paramount, and our engineers all have extensive experience and an established history in the energy supply sector working for National Grid, SPEN, SSC and various DNO electricity companies.

Our accreditations, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, confirm we are committed to delivering quality projects and we practice continuous improvement via development and training.

The business has retained all its apprentices and is now training the next generation. Very sadly Kevin is no longer with us but his legacy lives on and we are determined to ensure the vision and business he created continues to thrive and adapt. This means we continually focus on looking after our highly trained workforce so that they can keep delivering customer projects on time, on budget and to the highest quality.
